Residual bulk viscosity of a disordered two-dimensional electron gas

چکیده
Nonzero bulk viscosity signals breaking of the scale invariance. We demonstrate that disorder in a two-dimensional noninteracting electron gas perpendicular magnetic field results nonzero disorder-averaged viscosity. derive an analytic expression for within self-consistent Born approximation. This residual provides lower bound 2D interacting electrons at low enough temperatures.

Coulomb drag between disordered two-dimensional electron-gas layers.
We derive and evaluate expressions for the frictional Coulomb drag between disordered two-dimensional electron gas layers. Our derivation is based on the memory-function formalism and the expression for the drag reduces to previously known results in the ballistic limit. We find that Coulomb drag is appreciably enhanced by disorder at low temperatures when the mean-free-path within a layer is c...
متن کاملDeep Tail in the Density of States of a Disordered Two-Dimensional Electron Gas
A theory is given of the density of states (DOS) in the low-energy tail for the disordered twodimensional electron gas (2D EG) in a semiconductor heterostructure subjected to Gaussian random fields of any origin (especially of short range). The calculation is carried out by means of a path-integral technique within the approximation based on a non-local harmonic modelled action and that of the ...
متن کاملScale invariance and viscosity of a two-dimensional Fermi gas.
We investigate collective excitations of a harmonically trapped two-dimensional Fermi gas from the collisionless (zero sound) to the hydrodynamic (first sound) regime. The breathing mode, which is sensitive to the equation of state, is observed with an undamped amplitude at a frequency 2 times the dipole mode frequency for a large range of interaction strengths and different temperatures. This ...
